Impact of KVK
Under conservation agriculture, early sown wheat with normal maturing variety under zero tillage technique has been covered approximately 3000 ha area and farmers taking on an average wheat yield about 3.76 t /ha.
Appropriate weed management practices in Wheat and Paddy through Sulfosulfuron + Metsulfuron and Bispyribac sodium + Pyrazosulfuron were found best at farmers’ field for broad spectrum control of weeds, respectively and these practices have been largely adopted by the farmers in Begusarai district .
In Papaya, ring spot viral disease and stalk & collar rot have been observed major devastating diseases and chief bottlenecks in achieving potential yield of this crop and they have been controlled by sowing Papaya in February and March alongwith application of appropriate pesticides with adjuvant. In this way, acreage & production of this crop has markedly been enhanced in the district.
Introducing and popularizing of HYVs of important crops among the farmers through FLD & CFLD Programmes, namely Lentil (HUL-57), Wheat (HD- 2967 & HD- 2733), Gram (GNG-1581), Arhar (Bahar & LRG-41), Soybean (PS-1042), Rai (Rajendra sufalam), Onion (Agrifound Dark Red), Lobia (Kashi Kanchan) & Fodder Oat (UPO-212). Farmers are getting more yield advantage in the tune of 15-24%.
